Challenge

BAE Systems is one of the largest global defence companies in the world, employing approximately 105,000 people across the globe. Many of these are engineers, so it’s no surprise that they understand the importance of engineering to their business, and are keen to nurture the next generation of engineers through their education programme.

They tasked us with revamping their previous education site, to rationalise the content and more effectively bring engineering to life for pupils aged 5-19.

Solution

The previous BAE Systems education programme site had grown over many years, with new content continually added during this period. The result was a content-rich site, but one that suffered from a lack of consistency and structure.

A fresh and modern visual style was incorporated and the site architecture was revised to make for a more intuitive user experience. We also introduced a new theme to the website through the generation of new content, which supports all of BAE Systems’ schools activity, such as challenges, roadshows and Ambassador visits.

Results

Since the site went live, teachers have been regularly accessing the various resources to support their schools roadshow visit and pupils have been engaging with the site through the interactive learning and games features, and rating the engineering feats on the cool wall.
