Jun 5 – AWA scoop IDM Business Performance Award

It was a hell of a party, and it’s with happy hearts and heavy heads that we wake this morning as winners in the 2009 IDM Business Performance Awards.

After descending on that there London for the awards dinner we were delighted to return back up north with the award for Best Use of Online Display Advertising - for the Draw your Head/Changing Rooms campaign that we delivered for Republic - tucked neatly in our back pockets.

The awards, hosted by the Institute of Direct Marketing, are highly coveted and notoriously difficult to win, due to the fact that they’re judged on both the creativity and effectiveness of the work.

Luckily for us, having our creative teams sat right next to our media planners and buyers meant we had all the ingredients to develop this highly engaging and effective campaign.

The judges said of our work that it took “an innovative approach and had strong results”, and that we found “a smart way to engage with target consumers by creating advertising that was fun to play with and drew audiences in”.

Which is nice.

Christina Marks, Managing Director of AWA, summed the evening up perfectly: “We’re extremely proud to win such a prestigious award, and one that measures success in terms of delivering real business results. As an agency, the work we’re developing for our current clients is some of our best ever, and it’s fantastic for the team to see that recognised.

Of course, ensuring we deliver the right results for our clients will always be our focus…but if we win a few awards along the way then that’s an added bonus!”
