Mar 3 – AWA appointed to BAE Systems and England’s North Country

We could start this piece by saying how new clients are like buses. You know, you wait for one and then two come along together. Luckily we’re not that way inclined.

But we are inclined to say that we’re over the moon to have been appointed by global defence company, BAE Systems, and England’s North Country.

First up, we’ve been tasked with designing and developing the new website for the BAE Systems UK Education Programme. The site, which supports their touring Schools Roadshow activity, promotes engineering as a career option to school children by providing a wealth of engaging content and teacher resources.

Richard Hamer, BAE Systems’ Education Programme Director, explains his choice of agency: “AWA presented a host of creatively engaging ideas for the site which had the immediacy and standout required to connect with this school age audience.

By focusing on concepts such as the use of biomimicry in engineering and encouraging students to rate engineering feats on a ’cool wall’, we’re confident that the site will play a big role in inspiring the next generation of engineering talent.”

Our second new win will see us design and build a new site for England’s North Country, which will promote the regions of Yorkshire, the North West and the North East of England overseas, with a particular focus on the travel trade and press and media.

Commenting on the two wins, Christina Marks, AWA’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to be working with BAE Systems and England’s North Country on their new sites.

On both projects, our clients told us that the reason for our appointment was our thorough understanding of their business and their communication requirements, underpinned by strong creative and strategic thinking.”
